Business overview

CARGO (Charting African Resilience Generating Opportunities) is a collective of artists, poets and filmmakers from across the globe with a single minded vision to address the balance of accessible narratives from the African diaspora. CARGO fuses pioneering audio visual artistry, sound design and spoken word to enable the public to viscerally engage with inspiring, rarely-spoken narratives of resilience and visionary leadership. Our goal is to educate and entertain as CARGO carries audiences through the confines of the past towards a vision of a future full of pride and possibility.

Cutting edge technology is at the forefront of the CARGO experience and will help to engage a generation who are hard wired to the digital world. Smart phone and online engagement will be an important part of the ongoing CARGO output, allowing students and teachers to access and unlock content and resources. We are also developing a series of teacher orientated lesson plans that expand on the themes on offer in CARGO, enabling engagement with schools and other educational institutions.

CARGO is an independent non profit initiative led by leading Black Creatives along with support from musicians Massive Attack. It is supported by major organisations including Art Council, the University of Bristol and the UNESC Creative Cities Network.
