Business overview
The genesis of this business has been sitting on my heart since about 2015, and I kicked into action in early 2016. It all started one Sunday. I was praying at church and I felt led not to sing but to illustrate my worship. It felt strange but I went with it. What followed was the slow unlocking of the creative parts of myself that had be shriveling away for years whilst at work I indulged my analytical mind and it thrived. The creative bug spread from worship, to sharing God’s word, to incorporating it into my home and what I wear. It was important to me that the things I was making reflected the beauty of my faith and of my heritage.
But it just wasn’t the right time for me on a personal level, I was dealing with a lot of change at work and adjusting to be back from maternity leave as a new mum with a 5-hour daily commute! Faith & Beauty receded to the background again and life, work, being Mrs B and being Mummy took over again.
Roll forward to 2019 and I am heavily pregnant with my second child, longing for maternity leave and dreaming of the naming ceremony for my newborn. I knew I wanted to wear a real Kente outfit but finding the right jewellery for the look was proving impossible. So I decided to DIY and bought some beads…a purchase that reignited the spark I had for creating beautiful things.
So the journey of the past few years has taught me that being creative and making beautiful things is a key part of who I am. And I believe it is a God-given gift I have, which I can share with the world. Without it, I am overwhelmed and when I make space for it, I thrive in ways I never expected.
