Monero Kids’ Boutique started as a hobby, selling accessories at car boot sales and markets such as The Fount in London Fields. As interest grew, I created a pop-up space within Little Gems near Victoria Park.

It’s been 10 years since I started, and since 2018 I’ve been based in a boutique of my very own, in the beating heart of Dalston.

It is rare for any store in London to sell black dolls that represent the Caribbean islands and it is an opportunity I take to heart. Placing them upfront in my window shows the world the beauty of diversity.

After losing both my parents and older brother, creating clothing for the dolls helped me heal while I tried to come to terms with my loss and make sense of the world. The dolls were inspired by the women who made me who I am today – my mother and my friend Yinka, who had my back during tough times.
