Business overview
I’m Parys Gardener, an award-winning contemporary digital illustrator based in Bristol, UK. I create Pop art with a modern edge. My work has been commissioned for a collaborative project with Banksy, I had my first solo exhibition in Amsterdam in 2018/2019 and I have been commissioned by brands such as Nike, Footlocker, Facebook, BBC, gal-dem and more.
I work with brands to produce engaging and inclusive material used for marketing or editorial purposes alongside selling illustrated merchandise that centres the experience of black British women via my online shop. I also speak on panels about my experiences as a young Black female creative and what that means while navigating through educational and professional spaces in the hopes of inspiring others.
At University, I developed a passion for communicating theories surrounding identity and culture and I take inspiration from my background and family history. You’ll find elementals of popular culture, intersectional feminism, Black and Caribbean British stories throughout my work.
I enjoy working with colour, tone and pattern across digital processes to create bright, vibrant and engaging illustrations. My work highlights the voices and narratives of people from a diverse range of social and economic backgrounds through the perspective of my own story and experiences.
